You are right, but this also is "scribbling" like your previous drawing here.
I just tells him what signals he needs to send where.
I am no fan of split-cables like many seems to be, they do the same as you warns about:
Making improper loads by connecting various impedance-level devices together, thus sometimes shorting powered outputs, and burning power-transistors etc.
He should get some "black-boxes" that takes in line-level signals and mix them together to make a single line-level output, to be safe.
Best also a variable single output.
Like his Rode adaptor, which surely also contains some capacitors and electronic components to do what it advertizes.
He does need a box between the broken-out headphone output and his microphone-input on the Rode-adapter,because that will be loud, and also need to be down-adjusted as he turns up his headphone level!
It will surely also end up more expencive than just a couple of cheap cables!

Why couldnt you run the skype client on the pc?
