I use Sony Sports Headphone model # MDR-AS800AP (https://esupport.sony.com/US/p/model-home.pl?mdl=MDRAS800AP; https://www.head-fi.org/threads/sony-mdr-as800ap-not-to-be-underestimated.750769/) and would like help choosing tips. I've had the Comply Sport Pro 200 (SX-200) tips for a month or so but need to buy new tips. I plan on buying new tips tomorrow and I know that that's not enough time for most people to see this post and respond, but I figured I'd post here just in case I decide to wait a few days.
The headset is waterproof and I exercise while wearing it. I don't swim while wearing it, but I could if I had a waterproof case for my iPhone (setting aside the safety issues with wearing a noise-isolating headset while swimming and therefore not hearing lifeguard calls, whistles, and other environmental sound while swimming). I understand that the Sport Pro series has a sweat guard and I'd like to know what are other people's experiences exercising and sweating while wearing Comply tips (especially the current models) and other brands of third-party tips.
I also use them while not exercising. Currently, my PC's speakers are broken and I've been using my headset as a replacement until I get my PC speakers fixed. I also use my headset while watching TV shows late at night, in order to not disturb others. Further, if I decide to return to school, I might use this headset to listen to music while studying, to help me concentrate and to filter out distracting background sound.
To top it all off, I border on being an audiophile. I'm not totally an audiophile, but I kind of border on being one. Sound quality is an important factor to consider. However, it's not the only factor. This headset was recommended by The Wirecutter last year as the best corded headset for exercise (https://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-wired-exercise-headphones/, although the link is to this year's review, not last year's). I bought the SX-200 tips after reading about Comply tips on Head-Fi. I've noticed the same reduction in treble that others have noticed with Comply tips, and I want to avoid that with this purchase. I'd rather not cut off any foam, because I wonder what would be the possible unintended consequences of doing that (discomfort, reduced isolation, and/or other consequences).
After only a month or so, I have to replace my SX-200 tips because they have been damaged. There are some rips/tears in the foam. I've fallen asleep a few times with my headset on the same bed, rolled over it and that may have been the cause of some of the tears in the foam.
