I'll check out the V6 and the Senn HD280.

Here's a cut throat run down on what I want:

Controlled, tight bass that is not booming. Clear, analytical sound suitable for vocals or classical as well as rock and pop. Closed, portable phones.

Might I suggest the Ultrasone HFi-550? Nothing boomy about their low end, they have a decently detailed top end and fold up nicely. I quite enjoy mine, they were a nice step up from my HD201. I haven't used the 201 in awhile (I gave mine away) but from what I remember of the sound signature, these are close.

Hi, unfortunately those are about $80 over my budget.

I would love to wait, but I leave for vacation in about two weeks which is why I'm really anxious to order a nice pair of phones.

well I'm attempting to decide if I want to keep my HFi550 or HD25, if I want to get rid of the former in the next couple days I'll keep you in mind!
