I get that at times with my headphones and i really put it down to my mood...
Sometimes when my mood is really low or really tired, whatever i hear just sounds like crap but on the 'good' days, i really enjoy my music that i don't want to take my headphones off

It could also be that your gf/significant other have been shouting at you, and your ears are still ringing.
