Looking for a new pair of closed backs for the office (open plan). Comfort and isolation are top priorities, budget about 2000 USD or so. Would prefer something not -too- delicate to scratches and marks, so wood is possible out of the question?

Possible candidates are the Audeze XC, Aeon Noire or the Beyerdynamic T5 which I've heard have great isolation but unsure how they fit my preferences (see signature). Open for other suggestions as well within these criteria. Have also been looking at the Beoplay H95 for actual noise cancellation but unsure if I'm willing to sacrifice sound quality that much.. Asking for advice as I probably will have to go in blind. Thanks for any input :)

You might also consider Fostex TH900 mk2. Great cans voiced for fun and awesome with heavy repertoire (...if that's your thing  ).

I have seen a cracked ATH-W5000 for JP auction before, and even though that was probably heaved into the air and onto a concrete driveway (😑), having to care for an over-ear woody really should not be anywhere on your mind. That said, if you want a dynamic sound at work, then the t5p will work. Otherwise, the Aeon 2 Noire’s planar sound will probably work better to hear music details that are less likely to interfere with your work attention.

That's true. Just guessing here, but about 99% of issues with headphone narrow down to their cables in many cases detachable anyway. Wooden earcups aren't a problem, not in the slightest :)

Wooden cups might be sturdy enough but I wouldn't dare bring my Verite Cs to the office regardless :)

ZMG Vérité C are built like a tank so I wouldn't worry much, unless you think that they're too nice for office work. If so, I can agree on that :)

My Verite C's live at the office. But they live on a pillow with a satin pillowcase in a drawer under lock and key when I'm not actively listening to them.

For comfort I don’t think you can do much better, if at all, than the Aeons (any variant)

Will you have an headphone amp at the office ? Otherwise you would have to be careful with power hungry cans. Closed Focal are quite easy to drive but maybe not to your taste.

Yes I have a Zen Dac and willing to add additional amping if necessary. Celestee is an option if their isolation is good enough.
