I just started getting into the audio scene and I am a complete "newbie." The only audio products I have are the Cowon S9 with my Klipsch image s4, and my Audioengine A2s. As of now I'm looking for a good pair of headphones that would sound great at home and on the go(with the cowon).
My ears are decent, (somewhat perfect pitch) and I value all the ranges: low, mid, and highs. Despite the strong bass on the Klipsch s4, I am by no means a bass head but I do like a bit of thump due to the fact that I listen to a lot of DnB, some rap, and hip hop. However, I also enjoy music with jazz, vocals, and classical instruments. Pretty much I want the best rounded phones. I'm running on a tight budget (around $70-150?), and I would like to get some input on which pair of cans would satisfy me.
*Would like to know which are good open and closed headphones in my price range.
List of headphones I've looked at. (not heard)
1. Grado SR60 / SR 80
2. Sony MDR-V6
3. Shure SRH440
4. Audio Technica AD700
5. Audio Technica ATH-MD50S
6. Audio Technicas ATH ES-7
7. Sennheiser HD 25-SP II
Of course seeing as how I have obviously no experience with headphones, my options are much broader than the ones listed above. I understand that to get truly audiophile quality sound I'd have to spend LOADS more than my budget, but I'm just aiming for a good listening experience. Again, I'd like to know what the best open and closed options are available. *Aware of the fact that closed dont sound as natural as open? but I dont want major leakage of sound around me.
Help would be appreciated !
