Hello,

I'm a big goa & psychedelic trance listener.

I currently have a samson sr850 (which is good), but I'd like to make an upgrade

I have a budget of $175 for new headphones. I'm also thinking of buying a new mp3 player, because I think my sgs2 is a bottleneck for the sound quality...

Any advice?
(Size is not a problem, i'd like around-ear headphones)

Agreed. The HFI-780s are some pretty fun sounding headphones.

A great mp3 player doesn't have to be expensive. Research the Sansa Clip+ here on head-fi. Excellent sound for an mp3 player for under $30; competes with mp3 players 3 or 4 times that much. Add in a micro SD card to expand the storage.
