Niiice setup! Congrats
How do you like the ZMF Agartha combo?
How is the noise floor on the highZ output?
It’s an incredible combo

High Z was a bit noisy at first but a 12AU7 input (or equivalent) tames the noise

I’d suggest either a G73-R or an early 12BH7 (black plate) as an input. I’m loving my Tung-Sol 12BH7 black plate as an input with the Elrogs so much I have a UK Brimar and early CBS Hytron 12BH7 coming as well

I’m also running a GS-X MK2 as a preamp which helps add back some headroom from the lower gain input without raising the noise floor

Oh and I have a pair of new production WE 300Bs on the way to compare against the Elrogs

Total noob question, but can something like the Takatsuki TA−S01 amp be used with headphones using an adapter? Or is it only for speaker use?

Thanks

I bet it sounds awesome!
Fighting noise in my own A&S amp I have come to really appreciate the 6SU7GTY=6188 Tungsol round black plates coated glass.
It is simply the quietest 8-pin tube I have tried in the A&S.
But the 9-pin small tubes are also nice - and always very quiet.

I think I just made headway on my noise issue, it was my rectifier. Swapped the Fivre 6AX5GT for an early 1951 RCA 6AX5GT (Solid Black Plates - No Holes, Square Getter) Most of the noise is gone, and bass is a bit more articulated so I’m sticking with this rectifier for now.

Have an A&S Red October with WE300B and WE422A tubes. Sounding very nice with the Susvara and pretty much everything I through at it. Waiting for the Elrog tubes to see how they are in the amp but this will work just fine for now to enjoy the music

Not sure many have heard a Takatsuki TA−S01 with a car price tag of $32,000. 🙄

Tonight’s roll, Melz 1579 & WE300B (incredibly lush, full bodied romantic sound). Melz 1579 are a perfect match with the WE 300B. This is one input tube that has better synergy with the WE than with the Elrogs.
