I noticed there is a pretty large number of head-fi members from michigan (or at least it seemed like there was?)

I am going to be back home for spring break in a few weeks and I wanted to try out some of the different brands

Where can I try out headphones on a real setup around SE michigan?

I am located in Lapeer county.. but I am really interested in trying out some of the pricier headphones.. so a bit of a drive won't be an issue.

(relatively pricier.. D2000, SR225, HD650, maybe some beyer's and audio technica phones)

also.. is it possible to bring your own music?

Thanks

nullstring,

I doubt this will help you too much, but Indianapolis isn't too terribly far from SE Michigan. If you feel up for the drive, Ovation on the Northside of Indianapolis has a great selection of Headphones. I know for sure they have Grados and Sennheisers, and I'm sure they have a few others as well. I bought my Grado SR-80's there and it was a great experience. I brought a few CD's in, as well as my iPod and they gave me a private room, with a NAD amp, a Music-Hall turntable, a Cambridge CD player, a stack of vinyl and cd's and let me sit there all afternoon auditioning headphones. They even supplied me with free bottled cola. Got to spend a lot of time switching between the SR-60, SR-80, and the SR-125. Great fun. Super nice guys. They even have used phones on consignment there from time to time. They don't have any phones out on display. You have to ask someone for them and they'll grab anything you want.

Here is a link: Ovation Audio/Video Specialists - High Performance Audio

You should give 'em a call before you drive down though.

I'm in southern Michigan and don't know of anything here. I'd check out Sweetwater, it's in Fort Wayne at I69 and US30 (exit 109 I think). Check out their website, I've had good experiences there. Brought my own music; they don't carry Grado's
