I haven't heard either of those beyers, but from what I've heard here the 770 is darker and more bassy and the 990 is more bright and analytical. The 770 may be more a more pleasant all-around listener.

I use some Sennheiser HD595s for gaming and movies and I'm completely satisfied. Whatever you choose, I recommend that you get an open design. An open soundstage makes a huge difference in how immersed you can get into the game IMO. I have a fabulous pair of Denon D5000s that are absolutely amazing for music, but when it comes to gaming, I'll choose my HD595s over the D5000s any day. Again, the key IMO is the open design.

And btw, the HD595s don't need an amp.

well, i won't go to LAN parties, so it won't be necessessary to be isolated from the ambient. I want very immersive and comfortable headphones, i don't care if opened or closed, i just want the best pair i can buy for approx 150€, thanks

edit: i can do the amp thing only if it is very cheap, i don't want to spend more than 150€, thx
