I'm getting a pair of headphones for my dad for his birthday. This is something he is going to use with his ipod, and he doesn't like the in ear phones. I'd like to spend less than 50$. What are some good picks? Thanks.

I would suggest PX-100 or porta-pros but they are both open. Hmm...AKG k26p. There pretty nice in that price range.

Anyways, unless someone comes up with a better phone I'm going with that.

glad to help. They are a very good choice for that range.

He should enjoy the nice gift! The downside is that you both will probably be back on Head-Fi, with wallets screaming. (You and/or he should think about the PX100's for the future, for listening in environments that don't require isolation. They make nice gifts to give and/or receive.)

They're still about, get some Koss KSC-75s. They're Open but only like $15 and sound great.

As well.

AKG 27i, if he's the type to want all his gadgetry to match and be white.
