im currently using my ipaq as an mp3 player
wondering wat type of headphones i should get
preferably they should be below 100 and closed as i travel by train (which is real noisy) or go to the library quite often
also one that doesnt use an amp as i dont know much abt em and they r hard to find here in singapore
appreciate any recommendations given as i know nothing about headphones thanks

I'd recommend the Sony MDR-V6/7506. $80 new for the V6, very easy to drive, closed, foldable for easier travel and they sound great.

Hi,

I think the V6 might be an overkill for a PDA. It's so much bigger than the IPAQ. I think a good option might be the Koss Plugs or one of the sony wrap around phones. You don't need that good of a headphone to listen to mp3s.

Cheers

You might want to consider these phones. I guess they would sound better than the Sony Wrap arounds but at a very good price

BTW how's the situation with regards to Anthrax like in Singapore? I heard Malaysia's pretty bad lots of scares.

Cheers

Well...yeah, if it's super-portability you want then i would either go for the ksc-35s or earbuds like the mx500s or e888s. I think that the V6s will probably give you the best sound (esp. from a weak source) in a closed phone for under $100 that you can get.

hey,

i was looking for headphones for the same exact application (mp3's through my jornada).

i tried Sony MDR-V600's, Koss KSC50's, and a pair of Sennheiser MX500's that just arrived today.

My pocket PC had a little trouble driving the 600's...maybe the IPAQ is different.

I did find that the KSC50 and MX500 were loud enough to drown out a lot of the environmental noise (traffic, etc) at a comfortable level. I returned the KSC50 after the wires started coming through the fabric cord.

i'd reccommend the MX500's...cheap ($15), and I think they sound excellent through the PDA.

The MX500s sound pretty decent too! They don't have the isolation that the ex70s have and that could be good or bad, depending upon your needs.

Cause they suck and they are the second worst value (read: they have the second worst price to performance ratio) in the headphone kingdom, and you can get $25 headphones that are built the smae (Koss UR-30's) that sound about the same, and you can get $20 headphones (KSC-50's, MX-500's) that sound way better....
