Actually - looking at the list - all 3 are renowned for headphones that aim to be as uncoloured as possible.

Ye, its no surprise these 3 are left.

Stax is pretty exclusive with few people who dislike them.

Sennheiser has a very balanced lineup: good cheap 20-200$ headphones, 'affortable' highend at around 200-300$ and a true high end in production model at 1000-1500$. Not to mention the HE90 reputation. And they offer closed, open, on ear, around ear, in ear, earbuds ect ect. So they please a lot of ppl.

AKG has the vintage headphones reputation and some decent midrange phones. Their in production high end gets mixed opinions tho, so they are the 1st of the 3 to go imo.

On topic:

AKG 23 hurt
Sennheiser 26 heal
Stax 23

The three most advanced headphone brands are on the podium! It shows that the majority of Head-Fi members value high fidelity higher than «sound», which is a pleasant surprise to me.

It would have been nice if Sennheiser/AKG/beyerdynamic*, Stax/Audio-Technica* and Grado would be left. Then, one brand of each headphone producing continent would be left. Now it's two brands from Europe and one from Asia. Does this mean that the Americas don't produce good headphones? I mean, even when the playoffs started, there wasn't any American brand left.

AKG 21 HURT (minus the K1000 wat do they have to offer?? most of their phones are cold n uninteresting IMO.)

Sennheiser 29 HEAL (as another poster stated, balanced line of headphones in every price range and even their flagship models strike a nice accord between detail and enjoyment)

Stax 22 (way too inaccessible, albeit maybe some of the best i've heard)
