HeadFi Clan - BF2, COD2, CS:Source

if this is going to be a type of clan where we have mandatory practices, matches, etc. i don't think I can participate as I usually have too much schoolwork. However, if it is more of an informal thing, us just playing in a head-fi server for fun or something I could probably play occasionally.

I agree that it should be informal at best. Just drop in if you like. Best time to play will be between 6:00pm through to 6:00am (for example). Come and go as you please...

Using public servers will be the best solution. We can try a private server for up to 32 players.

Help me with this one...

Everyone just sets their name with a [HF] in front of it : [HF]gsferrari for example.

??

the reason I want to go private is because we need Jude's input on whether we can use the HeadFi name on public servers. If we are not going to use the name...it will be fine I guess...

Suggestions?

qft, it would be fun to pub together though (css for me)

yeah pubbing would be ok. I suggest everyone download xfire - http://www.xfire.com/xf/index.php

it is basically an instant messaging program, only you can IM while in game without minimizing. the good thing about xfire is that you can see what game people on your buddy list are playing, and on what server, then join through xfire, without having to type in the IP, etc. my xfire username is "irmunky." i know mmmcheese uses it as well.

In this case Let us get started somewhere with a game that a majority of the people have and are willing to play.

The point is - since we are using public servers, once we have approval from Jude we can use the [HF]<headfi username> as our IDs. We can then decide which server we are going to be on (assuming everyone joins xFire or Teamspeak first and THEN joins the game and corresponding server).

Having the communication going first will make things easier. Shall we first agree upon what mode of communication we are going to use? I will ask Jude to take a look at this thread.

Options:

1] Teamspeak
2] xFire
3] Ventrilio

I recommend everyone buy a "Headset" and put away the Sennheiser HD-650s and Grado HF1s for the time being because the biggest source of enjoyment is yelling taunts after shooting someone in the head

i'm down to play occasionally, though.

edit: vote for Vent and regular CS as an alternative game.

source and vent sounds like a good place to start because most people who play games will have hl2 (it is a must) and vent is imho better than teamspeak
all that is needed now is a scheduled date and time for play

CS:S and Vent it is!

We'll try this out this weekend if possible to see how it works. I wont have my PC by then but I think I can spectate with my current PC without the artifacts getting too bad...In any case I am sure everyone can give it a shot.

Now which servers should we be looking at? Geographically which area will be the best? Philly? DC? somewhere in Virginia?

What is the "Best Practice" for selecting servers?

I am installing Vent tonight...

Not to go OT here, but GS- you think I might get a response in trying to build console based network of HeadFi players, like say, PS2 online via broadband or something? Just curious...
That, and I want to kick some HeaFi newb bootay at MGS3: Subsistence comes out
