I can't wait for the pre-order. I'm standing by waiting with anticipation to get my hands on one of these. Great design Justin, can't wait to hear more details.

Uhh quick question, 4.2V/250mA into each channel comes out to 1050 mW....compared to the t4 which is quite powerful at 120mw into each channel .... wouldn't the pico be able to nearly instantly melt any set of IEM's if it was turned on at full volume without knowing? whats the point of something that goes so loud most Full sized cans wouldn't even be able to support? or am i missing some factor that is part of the output such as impedance?

I've never heard of someone damaging a set of IEMs by playing them too loud. I think a portable amp should have more power than the headphone out of an iPod or whatever player is being used. The T4 power could be in rms watts, so divide the number for the Pico Slim by 2.82.

The price will be the deciding factor for me...yeah, right.

...but I don't think I could find a smaller dog for a new avatar...little Pico was pretty small as a pup back in late 2007, all grow'd up now

err, still the itty bitty guy.

Thanks, Justin.

It's so close. Should be a great match.

BTW, did you use any IEMs else, beside your ESX3? Here hope that the Slim will do great with my PK1 and SE530.

Reducing the width to match the Nano would require moving the power switch to the side or back of the amp. I think this is worse than having 1/8" extra width on each side, which will be rounded sides anyway.

I also tested it with Etymotic ER-4S, Shure E3, Klipsch Image X10, and Westone 3. A prototype was tested by someone else who had Etymotic ER-4P and Livewires. I'm sure more testing will be done this summer. We'll see what IEMs are shown at CanJam
