Hey Justin, just out of curiosity, I see that the silver BHSE units on the shelf have black anodized feet.  All your previous ones used to be silver, which I personally think looks better and goes with the silver faceplate better than the black feet.

If i'm correct the picture below is one of the new feet you are using for this batch of 45 and it's silver.  Does this mean that the ones in the picture are just temporary?

hi justin,

do you think it would be possible to bring my BHSE up to the NY June 2 meet with you (assume you're driving)?

cheers,

You're shipping the amps with the rubber feet included, yes?  I have a deep-seated distaste for metal spike feet.

No, saving them to use again later.  If someone wants to buy the rubber feet in addition to the metal feet, or instead of the metal feet, that could be arranged

Probably.  The metal feet look cool, the rubber is more practical.

i have those same metal feet on my Aristaeus; and they are nicely done. so far i've just used those and not experimented with other footers.

i would be very surprised if the rubber feet are the highest performance approach, although they do make things easy and less hassel. i expect rubber feet would cause a bit of image blur and loss of bass articulation and transient snap.

why would one pay big money for state of the art gear, and then not optimize the environment for that gear when it is pretty easy to do. any tubed amps are very susceptable to footers and racks......you cannot judge the level of musical focus without trying different footers. since these amps are relatively lightweight, it also may turn out to sound better with a bit of mass loading.

typically either grounding (with spikes and a solid rack), or de-coupling are the two choices. it likely depends on the rack they are set on, and the floor beneath that rack (or even the type of building you are in).

i use Wave Kinetics A10-U8 de-coupling footers throughout my system ( i own 8 sets of 4), and when the BHSE arrives i will be trying both the BHSE and the Aristaeus with those de-coupling footers. spikes may end up being better, i'll have to listen to find out.

obviously, these kind of choices are personal decisions, and everyone has their own approach and even sonic taste to consider. YMMV.
