Not exactly on topic, but I've picked up a BHSE second hand and wonder if it is ever necessary to bias the tubes-- which I know nothing about.

To check and, if necessary, reset the bias, you will need a thin round wooden tool with screwdrivers at each end that you can get from Justin if one did not come with your BHSE, and a multi-volt meter.  There is a YouTube video of how to do this.  It is very simple to do.

No problem. I can't remember whether it is necessary to correct the bias. I don't think it affects the sound. It may be better for the tubes.

I don't think there is a manual, so good luck with reading it.

And congratulations on your purchase.

there is a BHSE manual, but it does not go into detail about doing the adjustments. The Stax SRM-007t has the same adjustments, but you have to remove the cover, and it's not in their manual either. It's really not something that is very necessary. If a significant adjustment is required, it's probably because the wrong kind of tubes are being used or something is wrong with 1 or more tubes.

Thanks, Justin.
My seller told me that there wasn't a manual, so I don't expect to see one when I open the box.
How can I obtain a copy? Is there a link?

Has anybody compared the BHSE fitted with the DACT and one fitted with the ALPS RK50 to see if there is a sound difference between the two.

Looks like the RK50 is more popular than the DACT according to past posts from Justin.   Is this due to better sound quality or that the RK50 has smooth volume control operation against the DACT with stepped volume control ?

Personally, cannot stand the steps on the DACT(not enough). Can never adjust the volume to my liking. In my book RK50 is the king.
P.S. I had DACT on GSX MK2
