Some say the extra-capacitance added by the extension cuts the high treble at high volume, matter of basic physics (see slew-rate / current). Sennheiser uses this fact to explain the final stage of amping within the cups in the Orpheus 2. Don't know wether it's hearable or not, endless debates here and there about this capacitance / current thing 

Anyway, final payment done and reading the topic...I'm anxiously checking my email every evening for shipment notification

Guess it's a good thing I realized i was listening at too high a level and reduced the volume to a more long term comfortable level.

I will try without the extension just to see if I hear anything, though. Will report back...
