This was a very smart promotion by Sennheiser, and all it cost them was 4 headphones! Few companies are this effective at exploiting social media, kudos to the Sennheiser marketing dept…wish I could hire you myself!

The reason you see many contests/giveaways being limited to U.S.-only is because the laws and regulations vary from country to country. Even in the U.S., laws vary from state to state. Trying to make sure that the contest doesn't run afoul of laws and regulations throughout the world is, to say the least, challenging. In some places, certain types of contests/giveaways are illegal.

With so many of these things, those conducting the contests would love to be able to make it open to everyone; but, for the aforementioned reasons, they often are not.

I am going to remove a lot of off-topic discussion from this thread. This post should answer the question about why it is limited to U.S. only (as are many such contests/giveaways by countless other companies).

Retracted, given it more thought and the issue is complex enough that until I have a really good think on it, I'll keep my views to myself.

When "fairness" means that we all have to be moved to the bottom wrung, it serves only a negative purpose.  If "fairness" requires "lose-lose" with no upside, you can keep it.

If Sennheiser Europe, Germany, UK, South America, Australia or the south pole wants to run a promotion open only to those living only in said parts of the globe, I wish my friends who live there the best of luck in winning.

First let me say that as silly as it may sound to you, I actually didn't pay enough attention and have just now realized it was Sennheiser US, which is of course fair for them to limit their contest. At that point I feel Head-fi should suggest that Sennheiser instruct all of it's regional divisions to simultaneously run similar, or the same contest. Regardless, the reason this site is so attractive to advertisers and makes good money I am sure is that it has international reach. It is not fair for a company of Sennheisers size and resources to ignore the many places it draws customers from. We all know that for Sennheiser this is an international advertising forum, and it should be treated as suc, that is just good business. I am not a mean-spirited person, nor do I think I am unrealistic, or unfair. I would be quite willing to bet that if the shoe was on the other foot and the US membership wasn't getting the love, the reaction might be stronger. Yes I know that the US is a massive marketplace, I am aware of economic reality, but we are not talking massive cash oulays for Sennheiser to be more fair, we all know they can afford to run a contest like this with a prize pool for the various locals around the globe that they earn money in. That is common sense.
