Are these replacing the previous HE-5? I didn't see the regular HE-5 listed on your Web site. Will this also be a limited-production headphone as the "LE" might imply?

I second this. No more wood?

Please please tell us it isn't so.

I'm fine with plastic if it adds to durability. The wood was too thin and fragile.

Pictures and some more info is now available.

"Maybe there is misunderstanding. Coating thickness of HE-5LE is a little thicker than HE-5. Diaphragm is thinner.

Comparing to HE-5, HE-5LE is:
1. More balanced sound signature: No more harsh treble on most headphone amps.
2. Lighter weight: Use for longer time and will not easily feel tired.
3. More reliable, no more cracking wood problem.
4. Better OFC cable with 4pin XLR (same to K1000) and XLR to 6.5mm converter."

Nankai: Any chance that the new headband will be smaller than the current one? The HE-5 are too big for me even on the tightest position, so I always have to wedge something between the headband and the top of my head...

(this is so embarrassing! hehehe :p )

From these pictures, I noticed that the connections built into the ear cups are not threaded.
Are these going to be more like an RCA connection and the HE-5 cables aren't going to be compatible, or is it just because of the mock-up picture?

Damn, these headphones are beautiful. I might not even use them. Just hang them on my headphone rack and gaze at heir glorious good looks.

The connectors on the HE-5LE are exactly the same as the HE-5. You can see it is threaded with sides cut down. Will work the exact same way.
