HD650......still hold their own

The original schism was with the 600. I'm a die hard 600 fan, but it's amazing how long these two have gone on with so many sold.
I have tried many and own several other pricier cans, but the HD600 remain my favorite all arounders. Sennheiser just got it right with these models.

They don't color anything but they also don't ruin old recordings. Strikes a phenomenal balance. Iem at a similar price point seem to be closer to finding amazing sound signatures that still sound somewhat like real life and with better Soundstage (some headphones users don't like to admit) and imagingI have tried many and own several other pricier cans, but the HD600 remain my favorite all arounders. I guess there’s a sweet spot in the vintage of the HD650...pre-2012...I don’t remember all the details.

Thank you! I owned an HD650 for maybe a month in 2010. It's one of my shortest owned headphones. At the time I had a DT880 and the HD650, I still own the DT880 to this day, though it is the least favorite headphone I own these days and I would sell it if it were worth anything...It's the only gear I still own from the days when I smoked cigarettes, and it still smells like it.The 660S is just plain better than both the 650 and 600. I put my 600 in the closet. I hated the 650. It pisses bass on everything.

HD650 with vinyl and an OTL tube amp can't be beaten for sheer enjoyment.

Still find them utterly enjoyable and so comfortable...but considering that they were once THE headphone, the rest has caught up albeit for a price.
Compared to my other headphones, there’s a lack of resolution and the bass is too thick and lacks definition. Sparkling highs...look elsewhere.
Don’t mind the dark tuning, though.
I keep them for sentimental reasons as it was the first TOTL headphone I could afford back in the day...and I thought it was horrendously expensive!

My sentiments exactly
Kind of really leaning towards keeping them around for all of those reasons AND because the newer model isn’t better.

Yeah, they are discontinued. OR are they? I mean the HD6xxs are just redesigned HD650s. They sound the same.I find it quite strange why the HD650 got discontinued. The HD660S is not a HD650 replacement.
Yes, they are the same. Probably different build quality, but same drivers and all. I'm loving them rn, but still; doesn't beat my K712.I am waiting for my pair to arrive. After using Beyerdynamic DT 990 for 10 years i decided to give these legends a go. This thread got me even more excited now. I actually ordered HD6xx but i heard it is same pair as HD650.

Some say that the HD650 is a pathway to many abilities that some consider to be...unnatural.Yeah, they are discontinued. OR are they? I mean the HD6xxs are just redesigned HD650s. They sound the same.
