HD650 are on sale on J&R

I've bought a few things from J&R over the years and never had a problem with them. Don't know about the empty box thing, but I'm sure they'd make it right. B&H is a class act and just about the only place I'll buy photo equipment.

Are you serious!?!?! I thought it was a problem with a J&R employee pilfering the headphones during shipping.

Bought mine from J&R a month or two ago. No problems at all. I don't think $299 is really a "sale" for them. I think that's their normal price. That's what I paid.

The deal has really been around for a while, but you wouldn't know when looking at used forum prices and Headroom. Amazing what a tiny bit of price research does.

This reminds me of our local crazy Los Angeles news stories from around christmas time last year...

An employee at, I believe it was a Target or Walmart, was put in jail for stealing about 14 ipods, and putting a nice fresh cut of lox in its place. He then reshrinkwrapped them, and they were sold on the shelf.

Imagine the childrens faces, all lit up under the christmas tree.....
"Dad? Was I bad this year? Why did Santa bring me a piece of fish?"

Well, I didn't have much time to worry about empty boxes. The box arrived today and it was very FULL.

I tried them on my Sony D-25s (the only discent thing I have at the moment)
There is way more detail and soundsage then the HD580, but they are a bit harsh, and the Mids and Bass are a laid back (compared to the 580).
Probably needs to break in, and they have a lot to catch up to my 7 years old 580.
Also my 580 got the shape of my head and I don't fill them. The new one are a bit tight here and there. Need to strech and break them (in)...

Yes, Sony's almost always need break-in time to clear up some of those harsh highs. They will never stop being bright, but they will simmer down quite a bit after about 80 hrs+ burn-in time.
