Hi,

There are a lot of threads which may help to answer your question which you can search for. My problem is that after reading so much that my head spins, sometimes I don't know whether some posts are referring to the newer versions of the HD 600s/650s or not. I just bought the HD 600 and I am troubled by some very shrill treble, but it seems to be ameliorating with burn-in. Other than that, great headphone.

Quick answer - HD600's are a bit more neutral (as in, flatter frequency response), HD650 is warmer and has a more pronounced midrange.

I use hd650 to test balanced amps that drive my hd600.

Whats the difference? The HD600 simply sound better, thats all

Why? More detailed, less fussy, faster bass (noticable in beat driven music), brighter and clearer, less boring. All IMHO of course.

I had the HD650 three times, I've always bought them in preference to the HD600 because I assumed they must be better. So far with my first stint of ownership of the HD600, I've got to say that I prefer them by quite a margin. The 650 are smoother, bassier, but also a bit duller and slower, swings and roundabouts though. I know which I prefer.

really? HD600 is better than HD650...

Stop right there! This is the opinion of some people, and they're more vocal about their opinions than the people with the opposite opinion.

While I have almost no experience with either, most people prefer the HD650. If you haven't listened to both, it's most likely that you will too.

*waits for the horde of 650 people*

with top notch equipment, apparently 650's shine through, but i don't think you will get near that kind of equipment any time soon so i'd go with 600's.

I have both, and prefer the HD600.

The HD650 are slower, duller, and thicker. Not by much, but enough for me to need to take Beano before listening to them.
