. It's plugged into my Denon DVD-2200 and my modded Marantz CD5000 (which I actually prefer). I need to pick up something as an interim solution since I sold both my K701s and HD580s in the past year, so I might pick up that kid's 580s as holdover phones until I go to Can Jam and I'm convinced to pick up HD800s on preorder or something ridiculous like that.

Do you feel that the HD650 is less clear and detailed than K701 as most people claim?

Just got a HD650 after some month spent trying to enjoy my K701... clearly better IMHO...I mean, clearly suit better my taste ! But K701 still more enjoyable on some tune. For example, I tried the Leonard Cohen - live in London yesterday... sound way too bassy on the HD650 and so right on the K701.. Will see if recabling can make the HD650 more "universal".

I just bought an Equinox HD650 cable. It should work with the HD600 correct? Anyone have any experience with that?

Single ended-

Recabled, the 600s sounded better to me than the 650s. But I like the k701 so the lighter sounding 600s were preferable. I don't like bass taking over the sound and I feel the 650s do that more than the 600s. Listening was done with a SP Platinum, ZD and the Beta 22.

Balanced, the 650s sound better than the 600s. The prominent bass of the 650s were not as noticeable but more even compared to single ended. For the best sound, balanced is the way to go with the Senns. No veil and very full and even presentation. Used on the Beta 22 and Bijou balanced.

so balanced 650's are better than balanced 600?

does balancing make a big difference because right now i currently have the HD650's & HD600's (both with stock cables) with a Singlepower MP3X (single-ended) and I am thinking of getting a cable (single-ended) upgrade soon. I can't afford a balanced amp at the moment but wonder if I should hold out for one and upgrade to balanced cables when I save enough money for both.

Stock Auzentech X-Meridian 7.1 PCI sound card. For music, I am re-ripping all myfavorite songs into FLAC.

Just wait until you hear it on a tube amp...
Your smile will be even wilder... same smile as my smile when writing this...

Then update your source before you worry about balanced amps.
