How close in comparison are the HD580s to the 600's. Is it a step up, Should I skip, and save for 650s?

I learned Sunday at CanJam 08 that 580's and 600's are identical drivers, only the screens are different. Check Moon Audio, they may have 580's with 600 screens at a sweet price. For all music except where deep bass is mandatory (organ, some rock), the 600's sound way better than the 650's. The 650's are NOT better phones, just more expensive and different ... when Senn added the bass they messed up the silky smoothness of the 600's. I A-B'd them at CanJam.

I own the 580's and would like to get some 600 grills for it. However, when I go to the Senns website under "parts" I can't find the griils.

Could someone send me the parts# for the 600 grills??

I've owned the HD580, HD600 and HD650 at the same time. The HD580 and HD600 sound the same and as someone mentioned earlier they are the same driver. The HD580 and HD600 are easier to drive than the HD650 though just in case you are thinking about getting a HD650s in the future.

Well....I made my own screens for the 580, and definitley thingk they opened them up a bit.....but I am no where near the likes of the talented ears here. So....Maybe I just stick with the 580s and ignote the 650s too. Maybe its time to expand the horizon. Grado?

It's a big sonic (and comfort) leap from Sennheiser to Grado. Better hear them first.

Call Sennheiser at 1-860-434-9190 and ask for (2) HD600 grill part number #92815. I got some two weeks ago and it only cost me $4 a piece. While you are at it get the hd650 cable #92885 for around $11.

I got the HD 580s this week and have not listened that much to them. Right now I lack a good cable and the other screens. If you got the HD 580s you should definitely mod yours the APS way: APureSound - Where The Music Is Always Pure

Makes a huge difference just to remove the foam insert and the foam pad inside the earcups. Cannot wait to see what improvements a new cable and grills make.
