So I've checked the forums and read what there is to read and I still have a few questions about the HD25 recable.

Here goes:
1: with no cabling experience, I should be able to do this, right?

2: I'd love to keep the 1 sided cable (that goes from source to 1 earcup instead 2 inputs that go around my neck). this seems to be possible with a recable, but i wanted to make sure?

3: for less than $50, what cable should I buy? It seems that there is the Sennheiser cable for the HD25-13, the senn cable for the HD650s, and private recable jobs. Which do I want?
(goals for recable include a managably short cable, 1-2 meters and termination in mini-plug)

4:thanks to everyone for your help. My ears love you all. My wallet hates you all.

Check headfier Lisa's signature for all the info you need.

1) It's just plug and play.

2) Should be possible with the HD 580 cable as well but it's a bit more tricky

3)Either HD 25-13 cable or HD 580 cable then

The HD 25-13 is 3m long and has 6.3mm plug. HD 580 cable is 3m and has 3.5mm plug.

The HD 580 with a trick can be used single-sidedly (check Lisa's signature) and the plug is already 3.5mm.

My ideal cable is the HD 25-13 cable reterminated to 1.5m and terminated with a 3.5mm plug. But it involves soldering. The advantage of this cable to the HD 580 is that it looks prettier and if you have to solder anyway, 1.5m is the perfect length (HD 25-1 stock cable is also 1.5m).

the problem will be that SennheiserUSA does not stock the 25-13 cable and says they cannot (will not?) order it..........so, next stop would be http://www.thomann.de/thoiw2_artikel...81cb6be45352da (or try an email to Senn. in Germany - tell them re Senn.USA and see what they have to say about it.)

Just spoke with a friend who works at a Sennheiser distributor. He didn't even know they manufactured a 600 Ohm version. Oh well. I guess I will throw up a group buy thread.
