I just finished making an HD-600 cable for a friend today, however the parts after the Y split are very stiff. I think this is due to the heatshrink tubing.

Are all cables built this way (with heatshrink after the Y split) stiff? In photos it looks like cables like the Cardas fat pipe are more pliable. Is there a way to remedy this?

I just made a cable for my HDs.  Used heatshrink after the Y too.  Not stiff.  Perhaps it was the type of heatshrink or to much twist on the wires?  I used Blue Dragon cable.

some people use a nylon multi-filament soft wrapper, rather than heat shrink. It also depends on what wire you used. Stranded? Solid? what weight? How are they twisted/braided?

The wire was plenty pliable before being having heatshrink on it. I used mogami 2534 and 2:1 1/4" heat shrink perhaps the heat shrink is too large to be pliable when it is shrunk that far?
