HD 598?

hi guys, i am thinking about buy a new headphone for my mp3 player, right now i am using sony nwz-z1050. and i want get  Sennheiser hd 598, but somebody told me if i want use hd 598, i have to get a amp too. but right now i dont wanna buy a miniamp. So can u guys tell me is that ok use this headphone for my mp3 player without amp? thank you guys very much!

You do not need an amp.

They benefit from a good dac. But, thats something you can buy later.

My $40 Clip Zip can drive my 60-Ohm Sony MDR-V6 headphones.
So your $250 Sony NWZ-Z1050 should be able to drive 50-Ohm HD598s.

Wow, when I joined head fi two years ago.. He would have gotten nothing but people telling him to get an amp (for the 595, of course, but same difference). I'm glad to see people are starting to not be dumb :)

The very benefit of HD598 is that it's very easy to drive, You don't need an amp for HD598.
Also, I would recommend you to purchase within the range of  $170-200 as I've been keeping an eye on it for long time.

This^^^^^^^^^. get it for 170-180 if you can then use the rest of the money you saved off of retail for the amp if you want ^_^
