I figured that could be it too. I have them running out of my Onkyo receiver which powers them fine volume-wise, but I guess it might not be powering them properly. I will be getting my Go-Vibe back in a few days from an opamp switch and then I'll try that.
I see the PX100 in your sig. It's been a while since I've had my PX100 or heard the hd580 burn-in process, but I would say the hd580 will always sound *slightly* bright next to a PX100.
