Guy + Acustic Guitar

My most memorable experiences with guy + guitar were all live, and I do not know if they appear solo on any albums, but if you have the opportunity for a live show check out (in no particular order):
Jorma Kaukonen
Roger McGuinn
Steve Forbert
Leo Kottke

I just this morning discovered Harry Manx. Stellar acoustic guitar. From Amazon review:
"2 of 2 people found the following review helpful:
exotic, yet strangely timeless, May 17, 2006
By twangmon (Nashville, TN USA) - See all my reviews
While most musicians are content to work within the accepted boundaries of their chosen style, lap-slide guitarist Harry Manx likes to color way outside the lines. His crayons? Soulful, raspy vocals, poetic lyrics, and the whining drones and mysterious melisma of Indian music. In addition to picking Hawaiian-style flat-top à la David Lindley, Ben Harper, or Kelly Joe Phelps, Manx plays the mohan veena-a 20-string archtop developed by Indian slide wizard Vishwa Mohan Bhatt."

The Rodrigo y Gabriella CD also comes with a very interesting DVD. I like the covers they do better than their original songs. They're songs have a little too much sameness to them for me.

I've been a Micheal Hedges fan since the early 80s and don't think you can go wrong with any of his CDs. When I moved to DC, my friends in Baltimore kept telling me about this guy that was giving free concerts every month. By the time I got around to seeing him, I had to pay $5. He was worth it.

Just a man and his guitar? Check out Alex de Grassi. Bit more of an edge than Hedges, as I remember.

You'll probably like Teitur, his album Poetry & Airplanes is great.

An old house-mate of mine, Robert Messore and his MySpace blog (some decent audio clips there). Mostly guitar only, but he sings on a few cuts.

/edit: Hey, I just did a YouTube search, and there's a short clip of him here!
