... driver from jlsounds which is working perfect.

Is it free? Version? Any link, please? I would give it a try, if possible.

I don't know if IIS is really superior to USB and why, but at the moment I will remain waiting for a DSD512 via USB working driver: seems the easiest way.

Thanks for sharing your experience!!! Very encouraging.

Is your X20 connected to your computer directly via a USB cable? No USB bridge such as singxer SU-1 in between?

V 3.34 driver will support up to DSD512, I know because I used 3.34 to play DSD512 with my x20.  To get 512 you need a new USB card and as I have posted I use the DIYinHK USB to I2S card.  So with 3.34 the stock gustard will play DSD256.  The v3.38 that DIY now sells for $6 only works with their USB to I2S card that I use or their multi channel card.  I now use the 3.38 driver since I have their USB I2S card which is compatible.

As to the SU-1 it has a Xmos 208 chip inside it, in theory it should be able to handle DSD512, So I suspect it is their driver which is the limiting factor for playing 512.  Now I have no inside info on this, but I suspect when the new SU-1 is DSD512 capable it will be because of a new driver and hopefully they will offer that to previous owners of the SU-1.

What is the player did you use when you played DSD256 with 3.34 + stock gustard? Did you also use HQPlayer? Do you know if foobar2000 or jriver work in this configuration: 3.34 + stock gustard?

Sorry, if I am asking too many questions.

@wwmhf I am a HQ player guy because it appears to be the best SQ for up sampling based on many users responses.  I am not sure on Jriver or foobar at 256.  The driver is a ASIO driver and that should be selected in the programs. So my set up in HQP looks like this and the settings are for 256.  512 on the gustard is double the 11289600.
