Strt with the poly-sinc-xtr-xxx and poly-sinc-gauss-xxx filters.
Linear phase is the most balanced.

Start with poly-sinc-ext2 .

xtr and gauss filters progressively cost more cpu power.
Try those if you have CUDA offload from your GPU
Thank you @b0bb, up-sampling to DSD doesn't have sense here, only to PCM, right?

Start with that, conversion from PCM to DSD can work well if the DAC is delta-sigma based like the ESS 9038, other technologies like R2R not so much.

The caveat is you need to have a processor with sufficient 64bit floating point capability, on Intel AVX2 at least and/or CUDA floating point offload assist, min 2k CUDA cores .
This is to handle load increase of 5x, more on the complex filters like the xtr or gauss type filters.

the pro is also full price compared to 2ndhand prices of H20...
I think H20 is still great amp if you can make all modification posted here in thread. For me it was BIG difference using upgraded H20 with Susvara.

does anyone have the values for the red (Wima?) caps on this pic?

I can see 3 types
  • 4 big rectangular ones
  • 8 square/tall ones
  • numerous small rectangular ones
Thanks a lot!

Replace diodes on preamp bridge rectifiers, swap regular silicon diodes with schottky diodes.

Schottky diodes have very low switching noise, removing this source of noise takes off the graininess in the midrange.

Before. (D70, D68 etc)

After
Hi B0bb, do you remember the package size of these diodes? thanks

Use the same values as are original parts, but MPK instead of MKS.

Don't have the amp yet but I want to put in my order. Would you happen to remember the values? Thanks
Unfortunately not :frowning2: But in this thread there should be in history all info you need.

Wait for the H20 Pro...
The H26 is out riiight now!!! I wonder if it's max gain and output power is increased from the H20, which is really my only slight caveat with the H20 itself - ie: wonky gain structure and slightly limited power output through it's preamp outs.....
