Happy belated Holidays everyone.. Ian here. Is there a member I can ship my R26 to? I need it updated with newer firmware. I get a loud pop sound when unit receives a signal from my PC. Pops between music picks from web/YouTube. Will pay of course. Need someone handier than myself to bring the GUSTARD R26 up to date. Plus my 4 year old uses any play time I have for myself.. it's guo monsters and hot wheels only. 10 minutes with a movie on couch and I'm out cold.. help appreciated, thank you. Ps. Was able to bring firmware up to 1.43. will cover shipping of course. Will pay. For service/ and someone's time.. thank you thank you.. e

If I'm not wrong, 1.43 is the last firmware.. I recently installed the one you can find on the first page of this thread and it works flawlessly. Do you have another source to test your DAC ? Would help with pleasure but located in Belgium :-).

Haha. :). That would be a trip.. I'll go over all the inputs. But PC is not my only option. I have: ock2, gustard u18 , Intona 7055-C USB, plus upgraded all fuses.. toslinked to a PC about 20' away. And usb'd/i2s to a Microsoft surface pad about 5' away.. I believe there is the fix for the small screen print too. That's another want to correct thing for me.. keep a magnifying glass close by.. and thank you by the way.. e

Hey guys, I'm sure it's discussed a lot before but for the ones who tried I want to ask if you felt any improvement of sound quality when you installed external streamer to the r26 VS using LAN ?
Thanks
It's a complicated question. Which source do you intend to use?
My experience is that with Roon an external streamer (sotm sms neo + sps 500 psu) was much better than direct Lan to the internal streamer as Roon Endpoint. But it could also depend on the qualities of your network or your Roon server...
But when I left Roon to use Bubbleupnp or Tidal Connect, I found that the sotm didn't offer any improvement over the internal streamer connected via Lan (with the small Delock surge protector) anymore. I even preferred this solution better, besides the fact that I can now sell my sotm gear 😉.
The Holo Red seems to be a very nice peace of equipment, don't forget to check that it's functionalities fits with your needs. I've also considered it but I don't think it would do much for my situation.

Nothing is MUCH better in the digital domain, the differences are marginal and often difficult to notice, unless expectation bias played with your brain, just relax and enjoy the music, have a sip and/or a puff of smth you like

Sip I have. Enjoy I do. And yes, in my opinion the sotm was much better than the internal streamer when playing Roon in my house with my system. It also depends on your expectations. You are not forced to believe me, but don't say "nothing is" when you are talking about subjective things. It's like saying never or always..it's often false for other people.
