GUSTARD DAC-R26 Balanced Decoder R2R+1Bit Dual Native Decoding Music Bridge

The 2022-11-15 is the OS software and is up to date. To see what firmware you have access the unit through Roon and you should be able to see if you are on version 1.4. Firmware 1.4 is different than OS version 2022011-15.
Thanks for the super quick reply. I don't use roon but I use audirvana. I wanted to make sure I had the gustarender v1.4 installed.
I have ethernet out of my imac into the gustard r26, but its not showing up under DAC.
I have DAC (built in output) and then it says NETWORK and I can choose ethernet or wifi.
Neither seems to connect to the R26.

Just received my R26 today. Powered it on and held the menu button to see the firmware version. It does not list version number only a date 2022-11-15
I downloaded the v1.4 and saw the date was dec 2 2022, so I figured I should update the unit. I followed the instructions with balenaetcher using my mac. Super easy.
After the firmware upgrade I used the same process to see the firmware version, and it still says 2022-11-15.

Is this the right date for version 1.4 ? Or am I doing something wrong?

Thank you
If you don't have Roon, you can see the version of the renderer with your UPNP players.

Here with JRiver:

EDIT
You posted your post while I was writing mine…
Here it is with Audirvana Origin.

This is what I am expecting to see in audirvana, but I dont see that.
I have R26 connected to my mac via ethernet (no switches or routers)
You don't see it, because your DAC is not connected to an Ethernet network.
1v4 is the version of the OS that runs on its built-in streamer.

Since you connect your DAC to your Mac by USB, you don't use the UPNP renderer of the streamer.
The sound is rendered by Audirvana, and not by the UPNP renderer of the streamer of the DAC.

By following the tutorial, you upgraded your DAC.
V1.4 is obviously an upgrade of the OS version of its streamer, but not of the firmware of the DAC, because the date that is displayed on the front panel of your DAC remains the same: "2022011-15".

My R26 is connected to my mac via ETHERNET. Not USB
Therefore, it was my understanding that Audirvana should detect the dac as a UPNP/DLNA via gustarender

Am I missing something conceptually here? I thought I had the option to connect my mac to the R26 via USB or via ETHERNET.
I was trying to avoid the expensive DDC and I2S cabling, and understood that alot of people prefered the ethernet connection anyway.

So is it a settings issue? does the r26 need to be connected to the router instead of the mac? (I only want local playback anyway, so no need for it to be accessible to multiple devices)

Are you sharing your wifi with the Ethernet port?
You need to turn on sharing

I understand now.
Like any device on your LAN, the R26 needs an IP address, and this address is attributed by the router. Without it, your Mac won't see it.
Connect the Mac and the R26 to a switch that is also connected to the remaining of the LAN.
Reboot your R26, and then the router will attribute an IP address to it. After that, if you want to connect the R26 directly to the Mac with an Ethernet cable, detach them from the switch, and connect them directly. Now, the Mac will see the R26, since it has an IP address.

Why do you want to connect Laptop to DAC via Ethernet? What is the benefit of it ?

Last question (hopefully for a while)
Finally able to see Gustarender 1v4 from Audirvana, but the supported PCM and DSD rates seem quite low
Max PCM 192, max DSD 128

Is that a limitation due to ethernet?
With USB I have max PCM 768 and max DSD 256

Ethernet has no limitations so I would think that could be setting on Audirvana.
Those drop down menus don’t help?
