@m-i-c-k-e-y you could/ should totally sticky this on your first post!
Would it be a good idea to send this PDF to Mr Zhang?

He could email it to R26 users who ask how to upgrade their DAC.
If Mr Zhang appreciates the guide, I will assign its copyright to Gustard for a C2 cable. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

By posting it on the thread, I have the proof that I am the author of the guide.
So, I believe that if they like it, they will PM me, and will offer me a C2 cable for its copyrights.

Nice idea. Although it'd be nice to think team Gustard would be avidly following this thread, sending it to them, maybe with a link to your post, so they can see the appreciative reactions that follow, is probably the way to go.

I prepared a PDF of a guide that explains with screenshots how to upgrade the R26 with Balena Etcher.
Both Mac and Windows users can upgrade their R26 this way.

This is the download link for the PDF "R26 UPGRADE GUIDE FOR THE DUMMIES" :

I believe that my instructions are very clear.
Don't hesitate to ask questions, if you need hel

The process to install an updated linux operating system (presently Gustarender 1.4) to the R26 sdcard for the internal streamer to work is the same process as used on a Raspberry Pi SBC..... there are quite a few guides out there utilising Belena Etcher (bit of an understatement) . This has been mentioned in previous posts on this thread.

Nonetheless, your guide is an excellent addition to the thread and will hopefully help many users.

Upgrading the A26 should be done exactly the same way.
I don't know the x26 Pro, but upgrading it may be the same.

Asking permission to post this at the first page (w/ your credential of course) so that it will not be lost thru the threads / easy referral..

I am wondering if there is anything else I can do different to get the internal streamer to equal my zen stream
I use a ethernet optical converter back to ethernet before the zen stream or R26 stream.
To my ears I find the R26 stream tiring but everyone else seem to have a positive experience with it
I have one of the first R26 and use Qobuz via bubble when I stream

Tiring as in “to forward” or “bright”?
What are your setting on the DAC? NOS? OS? What filter?
Start there. I would try OS Low if I sounds to “bright”
It could just be your ears too need a bit of time to adjust.
Having more detail sometimes comes off as “brightness”

Are you connected single mode or multi mode.

I found that for some reason single mode sounds more analog. Make sure the fiber cable says single mode. Try it it did amazing with my r26.
