Thank you and yes,i will, I am also curious.
And also about the AoC cable.
I listened to Lan and Roon all day today to get a better impression.
I thought it was actually quite amazing what the R26 was already putting out via Lan.

Let's see how the optical story will turn out.
I couldn't find anything on this link about the AOC cable we bought on Ebay.
But I'm not too worried 😁.

The above is the exact same cable just a different length. The one from eBay is 2m but the rest is exactly the same. The Finisar SFP module (2x) + optical cable (1x) (Industrial Version / Reference) is the top tier offering of AfterDark and is over $400 and according to AfterDark's own finding the same sound quality as the above cable which is the same one you purchased on eBay. AfterDark offers this same AOC for $207 including a cheap (1x) FMC.

Ah, all right, now I understand. Thank you.
I must have overlooked it.

Yes, 5 metres would be a bit much, even 2 m is a bit much if everything is to go under the desk.

The sound impression of what it's supposed to do doesn't sound bad.
Could possibly add a bit to the Zmf Auteur to complete it.

Looks like the cat's out of the bag on the AOC cable; the eBay seller is now asking $30 for it.
Better snatch 'em up quick! LOL.

@duffer5, is THIS LISTING the same cable and SFP you rec'd but in a 3 meter size? If so, this might be the best deal.

I went and purchased the aoc cable @duffer5 linked so can a/b that when it arrives in next few days.

Interestingly - I bought it as 1) was keen to experiment and see would it make an improvement and 2) was thinking of getting a second fmc for my headfi set up. It’s a bit off topic but I’ll leave it here but when I a/b tested the zen stream as a source to Gustard vs the fmc direct to Gustard - I preferred fmc. However - when I fed the zen stream with the fmc and compared zen stream wireless vs wired - there was hardly a difference with my seperate dac (a burson) and am not sure of benefits (unless I get rid of zen stream). Zen stream has a limited upsampling rate and it’s internal noise cleansing is quite good so that would explain potentially the differences in the two tests.

On another point - I am a bit confused on the clean side / dirty side commentary. I have my router and fmcs powered by LPS which is on a power board with emi / rfi filtering (alongside the audio gear) and I can hear no difference (or no major difference) when I change things around and power the first fmc and router with their out of the box power supply on dirty side. I will test it again but not sure it matters (for my situation).

You don't hear the difference, because your first FMC filters completely the noise of the LAN, including the noise of the router.
Once you installed this FMC in your setup, it does not matter anymore if the router is powered by a very quiet LPS or by a noisy stock PSU. In both cases, whatever level of noise arrives to the 1sr FMC, it will eliminate it.

I suspect that powering the first FMC and the router by LPSs may have a benefit that is not related to noise. It's possible that better powering these devices would improve the efficiency of their sync clocks, and would reduce slightly jitter.
But the benefit is small, and I think that it is not replicable to all LANs, because it depends on the models of the routers and of the FMCs as well as of their stock PSUs.

So, who leaves the R26 on 24/7? I have a mind block on doing such a thing but I am starting to become convinced it is a necessity for the R26. Thoughts?
I have had my r26 for 4 months and it has never been turned off. I also have my old sansui 7070 running in my wife’s salon. Other than power outages it has not been shut off for twenty two year!

Only thing I worry about is the LED panel burning out. But I am looking forward to the firmware update coming down the line that will allow the display to turn off when not needed.

Something wrong..the R26 doesn't connect via LAN anymore..
If I connect the dac directly to extender everything is fine..
So do you think that something is wrong with the fiber cable maybe..???
