Not to everyone . I've had the money in my hot little hand a couple of times now to get some GS1000s and each time I've tried them I've been dissapointed. Yes the soundstage is bigger on the GS1000(not as big as the W1000/Yamamoto) but there's something in the positioning of instruments and their relative prominence that doesn't appeal to me.
I much preffer the RS1s with bowls.

Re the finish on RS series...mine are probably around 3 years old, very well finished and for my ears at least, comfortable. They dont clamp as hard or get as hot as the closed ATs.

My vote would be that unless you're willing to take a chance try and get to a meet somewhere and sample them but the only true test is through your own system.
Good luck.

All right, I've thought about this long and hard and finally come to a decision. I decided that just because I have the money, doesn't mean I should spend it right now. Being in college means I may need money at any random point. And for this reason, I decided to go with the RS-2. Having originally decided on the 325, any of these are an upgrade from that so I can't go wrong there. I thank everyone for their input, and plan to use it when I (definitely) upgrade in the future. After college, a pair of GS1000 will definitely be in my possession.

I'll also be building my own amp after finding out the Grado RA 1 is just a fancy CMOY...

Again, thanks everyone!
