GS Audio Impressions Thread

I was browsing AE, and this GS Audio caught my attention. Looks like legit IEM OEM, housing Sonion/Knowles.

I’m more interested in GT series full BA. Any info? ST series look interrupted too. I’m looking Mangird Tea’s mid quality + better layering treble, Sonion-based bass.

My concern is: “is this simply, hey lets pack things together” style IEM or carefully tuned ones like DUNU SA6. If simple pick and pack, I’d stay only up to 2BA+1DD, because that’s the limit of any company with less tuning skills could somehow shape the IEM to OK line..

GT8 : $176

I asked them about the drivers they use.

S series (performance series) uses knowles and sonion.

G series (competitive series) uses knowles, sonion and "GS Audio custom units" (probably bellsing).

I dont think anyone got both the S and G series yet, so we can only guess how they perform compared to each other....

But graph wise, I think the GD3A looks better than the ST6A.

As for the GT series, Vortex has reviewed the GT12:

Personally, I'd have more faith in their performance series rather than competitive series, as the competitive lineup seeks to use a similar driver composition and materials as today's market and offer it at a cheaper price.

Performance series on the other-hand aims toward performance of the iem itself. Now I can't confirm any of this, but if this is the way they advertise their products, I'd say the performance series has more merit for me :)

Also, I've checked all their lineups and they do use Sonion BA to handle the bass region for balanced armature sets.
Is performance series named ST?

ah! OK, so ST is performance series. I'm currently seeking multi-driver reasonably priced IEM but when Moondrop S8 on sale goes around $610, it is a hard decision to order something that cost near that without reviews.

Their ST series is like half the price of the S8.

(except the ST10 at 430 usd)

ST8B = 330 usd
ST6A/B = 292 usd
ST5 = 253 usd

the Vortex review's shell looks pretty solid, fully resin-filled. Hmmm intriguing!

ah I though it was $500 ish!

The ST10, per their claim, is a VE-Flagship copy, same Sonion driver config, which is pretty interesting.

If you dont like the color or faceplate, you can just ask them to change it.

Say if you order the GT12 but want the GT10 color/faceplate, they can do it.

The "VE-flagship" line does not make any sense to me. I would dismiss that as a typo...

Someone explained earlier in the thread how they come up with their model names...

First letter:
G = competitive series
S = performance series

Second letter:
D = dynamic driver for bass
T = all BA drivers
E = includes EST drivers

Third number:
Number of drivers in each ear piece

If there's a fourth letter it shows which revision of the IEM it is. So the GD3A is the first revision of the GD3 and the GD3B is the second revision.

If I've remembered any of this incorrectly someone can correct me.

lol yea I don't get why suddenly VE popped out there.

customizable faceplate and colors, which is nice! I would like the stabilized wood faceplate if ordering.

No idea if they got that, but you can ask.

They seem to imply that you can customize the tuning too. How does that work? It probably costs a bit more too.

No clue tbh, I would assume that is for the OEM service (buying in batches).

I would probably use their graphs and just sketch on it the changes you want.
