I'm preparing to build an iPod LOD to RCA interconnect and I had a question about ground loops. Since the grounds on both of the RCA connectors will eventually tie into the same ground pin on the iPod connector, should I only connect one ground? I am worried about creating a ground loop if I connect both RCA grounds and then tie them together, but it also seems strange to leave one ground open

The IC will be connecting to the input jacks of a Little Dot MKIII.

Unbalanced signals always have the grounds tied together, you have nothing to worry about.

A ground loop will happen only if you choose to use shielded cables for both left and right channels and use a wire AND the shield for ground, that would be bad, but also very hard to do, so don't worry.

Thanks for the information. So if I'm planning on using shielded cables, I should just use the shield for ground and no wires?

I prefer using the wires vs the shield and attaching the shield on the source side
