very cool, anyone here compare this to the k50 with direct experience?

was always curious about how this sounds like compared to k50.

I have but do you really want to know? ;-)

Yes I do have one on the way to me and I am also not type to take offense when honest opinions are shared. Not that type of guy, but I see why people do that from time to time. Just human nature to want to defend their purchases.

My journey via headfi hifi is an interesting one. After transitioning to speakers via the aic10, since it can run speakers also, I rarely listen to headphones now and the experience of speakers can not really be replaced even with totl headphones imo.

At the risk of being accused of blasphemy im with you on the speaker listening. Congrats are you demo’ing or have you purchased? It’s a formidable device but you will probably need to revisit your network set up as to get the Mu1 properly singing it needs a gigabit connection. Look forward to hearing more, it should pair beautifully with the playback designs dac :)

Purchased, unfortunately I do not have a gigabit connection at moment, sigh, but will do with what I have as I am more focused on sound proofing and room acoustics at moment.

Those are current priorities due to above tenant getting bit upset listening to my Britney Spears and N Sync and Miley Cyrus, haha.

He told me to quiet down, and I replied Party in the USAAAA...

Next step: you should get a big house with no nearby neighbors 😁

Why should you need a gigabit connection?
I've had great results with a £30 slow 300Mbs WfFI dongle connected directly into the MU1. I didn't notice any difference in SQ when the dongle was removed (while a local music file was playing).

Good question.. Its not because of the speed, but instead it's due to the additional bandwidth the 1GB/s offers and also you are only likely to hear the difference with a hard-wired ethernet connection as opposed to wifi. :)

Ah that feeling.... the materialistic American chasing one thing after another feeling.

Familiar, shameful, and understandable, self reflective at the same time.

Usually people swap on amps or dacs, I find it most interesting to swap in and out the streamers for some reason. Not sure why I feel this way.

Btw Grimm had MU2 in Munich, it sounded amazing in their room. Of course its hard to compare things in a tradeshow, but I am excited to try in 6 or so months when they release it!

I heard. Though I like using my own DAC, the MU2 does seem to be a great option to cut down on boxes....and of course knowing that synergy with their built in DAC would give some peace of mind.

I am swapping the k50 and mu1 in my system back and forth and it is hard to choose which I like more.

Selling the MU1 in classifieds, K50 works better for my speakers.

Could someone tell me if the Grimm MU1 allows for control of functions either from an app or from a web page?

You can control the MU1 from your browser via its IP adress with a lot of options (there is no app yet). I never had a problem (GUI is nice and simple) and Roon always worked fine on the MU1 (using my Ipad for Roon).

Thanks so much. I'm close to pulling the trigger on this to use with my Mola Mola Tambaqui. I can't demo it first so I hope all the positive reviews are accurate!
