What is your favorite guitarist based on either virtuosity, technical skill, or creativity?Or all of the above, if you like!

My first pick would be Buckethead. Very eccentric, insanely talented.

I chose him because he meets (in my opinion) all three of the above criteria.

Who do you chose?

if i were an aspiring guitarist, and i heard buckethead play, i think id probably quitely put down my guitar, set it on fire, and pick up the slide whistle or the kazoo or something.

i'd love to hear him play some jazz.

I'm listening to Buckethead's 2010 release Captain EO's Voyage right now.  It's just damn amazing.

Fripp is amazing.

Some other guys I like are:
Ben Weinman from the Dillinger Escape plan
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfVXLDGWPwc
Very rythmically he's all over the place, but it makes sense.

Chris Arp from Psyopus
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8pZawn0xTY (meant to show what's he doing, sound quality isn't too good)
He's so technical it's drives me crazy.

Kurt Ballou from Converge
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hcUxV7BmSc
I think the end of the song is 4 on 3 (he's playing two riffs, and over layed them one has 4 beats per measure the other has 3)
His guitar also sounds great. He's not obviously technical but try playing some of their songs and you'll realize they're harder than they sound.

Chuck Schuldiner from Death:

A legend.

Mikael Åkerfeldt from Opeth
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0hRznmgLUo
He pretty much covers the entire spectrum in his songs, to awesome riffs, creativity, blues, some jazz, and knows when to hold back on solos.

David Gilmore.  Can't get into technicalities because I'm not a musician.  What I know is Pink Floyd guitar solos from the 70's give me goose bumps.  He, to me is a genius.

Agree or disagree?
