I second that.

Well, this is a touchy decade for me, but some good stuff to be heard:

Anthrax
Minor Threat
Slayer
Beastie Boys
Dinosaur Jr.
Bad Religion
Pixies
Cure
Prince
Bolt Thrower
The Specials
Madness
The Police
Elvis Costello
Billy Bragg
Joe Jackson
etc.

[EDIT] Missed a lot of good Hip-Hop:

Run DMC
Public Enemy
KRS-One
Diggable Planets
Dilated Peoples

Some of those might barely be 90s though...

Phil Collins was also a member of a fusion band called "Brand X" while he was the singer/drummer for Genesis. You guys know that Genesis is about to launch a massive reunion tour, right?

As for great '80s albums....

Parade - Spandau Ballet (follow-up to the band's "True")
Tunnel of Love - Bruce Springsteen (follow-up to "Born in the USA")
OU812 - Van Halen
So - Peter Gabriel
The Seventh One - Toto

Dude I loves me some 80s! Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me, from The Cure. Tom Waits - Rain Dogs, Swordfish Trombones, The Replacements - Tim,...

Aztec Camera
Magazine
The Smiths
Depeche Mode
The Church
Dinosaur Jr.
Pixies

lots and lots.
Check out the Rhino Box "Left of the Dial: Dispatches from the 80s Underground" for a tidy introduction to some acts of the day.
