Great 80's Albums Recommendations

Lately, I've been looking for great 80's CD's, but I'm having a hard time thinking of some. So, I look to you, fellow head-fi'ers, for help.

Not really.

So many, but where to begin? So much music began in the 80s, and so much ended in the 80s too, so it kind of depends on whether you lived it or just know the highlights. Here's a short 10 heavily loaded at the beginning and the end. But tons of great, and popular stuff in between, including some of the best from Paul Simon and REM and U2 and Prince and Lou Reed and the Smiths and Springsteen, and lessor known critical favorites from the likes of Husker Du and the Minutemen and the Replacements and Sonic Youth and many others. Sometimes difficult in retrospect to separate what is "important" from what is actually "good", but all of these are good to me, and some might even be important too

But also don't forget that great debut from the Pretenders that just sneaks into the 80s, and the Psychedelic Furs. I've always loved those first couple Tom Verlaine solo albums after Television went on their 25 year hiatus. And the Blasters! Great stuff, along with early X. Lucinda Williams s/t is a big favorite too. And on and on ...

Genesis. Peter Gabriel was in that band as was Mike Rutherford of Mike and the Mechanics.

Phil Colins' band was Genesis (unless he's done other stuff I don't know about).

yeah invisible touch album by genesis was awesome, purple rain by prince, the wall by pink floyd, and the best! a real cd of amused to death (copys never sound right) by roger waters. tango in the night and rumours by fleetwood mac are decent too. someone mentioned doolitle, and bossa nova was good too. and for live recordings delicate sound of thunder by floyd is hard to beat.
