I sold my K701s because I was ready for a change. I want something with more bass, more midrange presence, maybe more "lush" than "sterile" like the K701, and not terribly expensive. Basically something like my old HF-1s. I was just going to pick up a SR-60, but then the SR-80 is only slighly more money. And the SR-220 slightly more...

HF-2... You could maybe find one for a decent price in the For Sale forum.

I was thinking about the Senn. 600 because it came up in my other "recommend a K701 with more bass" thread. I haven't listened to one though. Are they good?

I'm basically looking to go away from the "studio sound" of the k701, and more bass would definitely be good. I figured I could always fiddle around basshead modding or flat-pad-ing grados at least.

If you want forward mids, then I don't know about the Senns.. they are very laid back/smooth. My SR225 sounds much more forward than my HD580. The soundstage is smaller but the bass is tighter/punchier. My HD650 are better than both of them IMO. They're still not as forward as the Grado's but it's got the best overall presentation to me - although this is out of a WA6 and with recabling. Unamped the Grado's sound better.

This is how I went:

SR325i -> RS2 -> RS1 -> GS1000i -> HF2

I tried everything from SR60 to SR225 and didn't like any of them and went with SR325i. If I add HD600 in there I would rank HD600 (personally) with RS1 and HF2. I thought GS1000i, RS2 and SR325i were below them.

Avoid Grado for bass. Senns are good, but they're a beast to power. You should look into Denon.

Not entirely true, Grado offers suffice amount of bass without being overbearing. It's punchy enough to get your toe tapping.

And the MS-PRO would be at the top of that tree

For those currently ruing their miniscule headphone budgets, I'd like to direct your attention to the Oz pricing on Grados:

Welcome to audiophile

When the MS-Pro is $960 here, I have to wonder who is paying an extra $240 for the RS1 over its Alessandro cousin.

I really really really loved your HP2 and PS1 at recent NorCal meet. Only wish I could afford them

I had MS1 also. I liked it very much. Very smooth. No doubt MS-Pro will sound awesome.
