Hello,

I'm currently looking for a good pair of headphones to complement my Beyerdynamic DT880. I think that my DT880 are really good with 90% of the music (Prog-Metal.) that I listen but sometimes I'd just want to have more bass and more energy with bands like Iron Maiden.

Do you think that the Grado SR80 or the SR225 would be a good choice? My budget is arround $150 max.

The amp that I have is the Little Dot MKIII

Thanks

There is a really good deep bass on the albums that are well recorded like Porcupine Tree, Tool or Radiohead but on the old Iron Maiden albums like Number Of The Beast or Powerslave, it just sounds a little bit too thin for my tastes.

Maybe it's because those albums are not well recorded?

Maybe it's because I'm currently using my Meier Corda2move to drive my headphones? (I'm still waiting for the delivery of my Little Dot MKIII..)

Really keeps me from wanting to buy other headphones or amps or sources.

Can you go to $190? Sennheiser USA is selling HD-580 refurbs for that. It's a different flavor than the Beyers and Grados, but you might like it. Also a bargain considering what the 600 and 650 cost.

I've been interested in purchasing the HD580 with the HD650 cable for a long time but everybody here are saying that they are not good with Heavy-Metal..

Also, since I will have the Mullard tubes with my Little Dot MKIII, I think that my DT880 will probably sound very similar to the HD580. Perhaps it's not true, but anyway I might buy the HD580 later since they are still available for $170 on ebay.
