Where can you buy them?

Do you get the silver/grey pads for the Pro version, or the vinyl pads for the DT770 version?

Do they alter the sound much? I assume they hold the drivers further away from your ears a bit - likely increase soundstage and reduce bass a bit.

I get the impression there is a miscommunication here.

Some people appear to be referring to Beyer's headband pad and others the Beyer's earpads.

Ah yes, my mistake. I was thinking of the modded 770 pads that Larry from Headphile offers for Grado's (they look very good but are extremely pricey).

I've seen the 770 cushion mod before, I'll probably consider that as well.

Edit - yeah, NiceCans is correct here. Tad bit of confusion

So the DT770 ear pads don't fit the Grados - correct?

What about the GS1000 pads - do they improve the sound of the SR/RS phones? Probably other threads on this somewhere...

I would guess not - hold the drivers just too far away from your ears.

PS: I found the thread on the GS1000 pads (salad bowls) on the RS-1s - they don't work (ruin the sound). It seems that the stock bowl pads are the best all around with the RS-1s. I've tried the flat pads - and they made the sound muddy. The reverse bowls work very well to tame the highs, while leaving clear highs, mids and bass - though the soundstage shrinks a bit.

I'm pretty sure the DT770 ear pads don't fit the Grados. If they did, I think that tons of people would have them.

I have heard that the GS1000 pads only sound good with the GS1000 and don't work well with any other Grado.

At first, I really liked the flats on the SR225, but I got used to the bowls and now I like them the most. I haven't heard the 414 pads, though.
