I recently purchased a pair of SR80s. I also ordered some yellow Sennhesier 414 pads to help tone done the treble and increase the bass. My question is how are the 414 pads different than the Radioshack pads? Are the 414s thicker?

I'd say go with the sennheiser pads because they are a little bit thicker, but it will also depend on whether or not you plan on making any mods to them.

What if you don't want to mod them, what are the best pads to tone down the treble?

Flats would work.

I like my Grados (SR-80, then HF-1) with the 414 pads, reverse-modded.
