Hello everyone
I have been searching for this particular specification of these Grado headphones and i cant find it.
Does anyone know about it?
How much mW RMS power do these cans have? I am curious about it and wonder why Grado doesn't say anything about it.
If anyone knows something pls share this info with me and anyone that sees this thread.
THX!

RMS is a rating for amplifiers and shows watt it can deliver constantly. :D

It's technically inaccurate. Power cannot be expressed as RMS.

"Continuous power", "Program power", or "Music power" would all be more appropriate, and still should be provided with more conditionals; http://www.rane.com/note145.html and http://sound.westhost.com/power.htm will provide more explanation for the curious. This would also be helpful (at least the first bit on loudspeakers and power): http://sound.westhost.com/articles/myths.html

As I said, it's basically a meaningless specification either way (either output power or "max" input power) without appropriate conditionals, and even if you have that information, because sensitivity is so high we're easily talking about a situation where you're going to knock your head off before you get to the point of blowing the drivers up.

The only signal you might get that could hurt your headphones is that power on bump when an amp is powered up and sends a huge noise spike out. However almost every headphone amp I've ever used has the power switch built into the pot so in the act of turning it on, the volume is at the minimum at the moment of energizing.

Moral of the story, don't hot plug headphones or sources on a headphone amp and you're golden. Always turn it off or turn it down if you plug or unplug something.
