Grado sound + Bass

Just get a Grado with an amp that has a good bass boost option (one that doesn't muddy the sound).

If you want a Grado sound but better bass control, you can try Magnum drivers or Turbulent X drivers.  They are refined Grado like drivers.

I took two regular sized flash cards and cut them into thirds (long ways). Using two slabs on each bowl is enough and you tape the flash cards to fit snug (around the outside of the bowl). I am still A/B -ing it to see if it is an actual improvement or my mind telling me it was. But it was free so see for yourself. ;]

You should find a local store to demo them first, demoing any grado (sr-325 and under) will give you an idea of what the 225s sound like but my personal suggestion is go Grado if you want headphones for rock and jrock.
