Grado PS 500 Professional Series Headphone

Come one. Come all. It has been hard as hell keeping this one under tight lips, but I can finally spit it out:) I was lucky enough to visit Grado Labs this summer to take a look at the new PS 500 headphone and listen to it briefly. It is very similar to the PS-1 we loved so much. I have not had a chance to compare it to my PS-1 yet, but you are guaranteed to hear my thoughts once I do. It uses the same wooden inner cup like the PS1000/HF1/HF2. It will have the new finish that the SR325is has. Not the Chrome or Satin Silver of the PS1000 but a powder coated in grey finish. No specs as of yet but obviously it will have similiar to all the other Grado phones. I will take better pictures once they arrive in the shop but for now this is all I have.

Retail is set at $595 with free 2nd day UPS included.

Preorders will begin now and can be ordered HERE

What a pity. I am Italian and I don't understand how come that I would have to pay a Grado headphone three times the US price, at the current exchange rate.
It happens also inside EU.
Only with Grados.

Mr Grado please do something with your dealers. At least the italian one.

Hi Nick01, I know how you feel.

Looks like a really nice headphone, and I for one would like to purchase one, as well as a set of RS1is.  Unfortunately in the UK, we are in the same boat as other overseas customers.

A recent article in whathifi http://www.whathifi.com/news/grado-adds-high-end-ps500-headphones-to-its-professional-series states:

"New from Grado is the PS500, the latest model in the company's Professional Series range.

At £700, the open-backed PS500 is said to offer 'unrivalled value'"

Doing the maths that works out at $1028 for the PS500 and $2,839 for the PS 1000.

Audeze LCD-2 on the other hand can be purchased in the UK for £800 = $1,237.

I know where the 'unrivalled value' is.

Get the LCD-2, they have my vote.

Here in Italy is even worse. Yes, Grados cost much more here than in the UK. And by the way I could not even buy them in the UK because of strict dealing restrictions. European common market??? Ahahah funny.
